review 1: This is a good mystery book. :) I would have given a 5 star however some of the reasoning of Rose was just annoying and didn't make sense. Why is this book a good read?Well first of all the plot and mystery part is fun and upbeat. Not a dull moment. Second, the characters aren't over the top. They were all interesting except for the ones you're supposed to hate. Third, I like Rose. She doesn't bitch about being poor. Usually a once rich princess will keep dwelling g on how much she is missing out blah blah blah. In Rose's case, she just walk forward. Forth, it's funny. :) not Stupid funny. Not snide funny. Just funny. :)
review 2: Based on this first book, Terri Austin’s Rose Strickland Mystery series will be a wonderfully quirky and fun series. Rose was bor
... moren into a wealthy family; a doctor and his wife who played in the higher levels of society. When Rose refused to follow her mother’s carefully designed path, she found herself in a new environment. A waitress at Ma’s Diner, Rose was a part-time college student, and living on a very tight budget. When good friend Ax (Axton) disappears after leaving his backpack with Rose, she and blue-haired best friend Roxy set out to find him. The path leads to illegal gambling parlors, unsavory politicians, and a couple of Ax’s computer geek friends. This is an entertaining story, well-written, and populated with great characters. I have already purchased the second book in the series, and look forward to the third, due out in mid-November. less

I don't accept this one as a cozy mystery.
