Mary O’Reilly Paranormal Mystery
review 1: A Great Paranormal Read! 1st let me say, I read / listened to this book in audio format via audible.com. I get audiobooks whenever possible as they are more exciting then reading them myself! Audiobooks bring us proper pronunciations, loads of excitement, accents & allow us to do things while we listen! It's like listening to a movie, but better as the book is always better than the movie! This book is about a woman who was dying and given the choice to move on or go back to her family. Mary chose to go back to her family, so it was said some things would be different. Now Mary can see & speak with ghosts. Her job now is to help solve mysteries that keep the ghosts from moving on, so they can advance to heaven. In this book (7th in series), Mary has to solve the murder... mores of 5 boys from 20 years ago. While the murderer is in prison, it turns out he was framed & not really the murderer at all. Then they discover there was even another boy killed that hadn't been discovered yet! Mary does her detective work with the help of some friends (some even are ghosts). With Eons & Mikes help, Mary takes us on a dangerous trail back into time as they solve the mystery. We meet many more characters as we go to & learn their parts in the story. This book was so entertaining & so touching, it even made me cry towards the end! Bring tissues!!! I absolutely loved this book! This is my 1st read by this author, Terri Reid. I look forward to reading the rest of the series! The author did a fabulous job explaining how the murders happened. The Narrator, Erin Spencer did a great job reading this book too! She narrated this story flawlessly with all the excitement & accents where they were needed! It was an easy plot to follow along with! Kudos to both ladies! Good Job!
review 2: I have to tell you how much I love this series. Some of the books are better than others, but this one really was fantastic. By now, I've learned to predict the killer, but sometimes I'm fooled (at least temporarily)and I love that. I also love that moment of "OH! Now I see how it's all connected!", that I sometimes can't predict. This one was tough to read, since it involved the molestation and murder of little boys, who happen to be the same age as my own son. However, there were uplifting, funny, and happy moments which balanced the tone of the book and made it easy to read. The only downside to this series is the amount of typos and similar names (Robbie, Ronny, 2 different characters named Maggie, etc.). It's hard enough to keep track, but when the names are similar, it can get confusing, especially when there are so many other names the author could've used. I love that this author brings as much closure to the end of each story as possible, while still weaving a hook into the last page that gets you motivated to keep reading the next volume. I have grown to really like these characters and while I laugh at the amount of peril that Mary has gotten into in just a few short months (the span of all 7 books so far), I suspend my disbelief because the books are just so enjoyable. less
