review 1: * ARC PROVIDED BY THE AUTHOR FOR AN HONEST REVIEW * The Edge of you by Theresa DaLayne is a a nice refreshing new adult contemporary romance that is much different than the others. It was very nice reading something different. I mean how many books have you read whose got a fisherman as the main character. And for me i love fishin. This book takes you through the troubles of two young adults that are looking to make lives for themselves but have so much holding them down.Jake has to take care of his very sick mother. With the medical bills piling up Jake decides to head to Alaska to become a fisherman. The only way he can afford his mothers bills. He is also juggling college classes while working his butt off fishing. He has no time for anything or anyone else in his life.... more Until Maya walks in and the instant attraction about knocks him over.Maya is trying to cope with her younger sisters death. She is awarded a scholarship to a very nice art school but she also sees her family crumbling apart. When her dad gets a job in Alaska she decides to move with her parents to help everyone cope with their loss. When she sees the college there she is in shock. It is a very small college. Nothing fancy like Maya could of attended but she gives it a try. That is where she meets Jake. The sexy fisherman. But when everything in both of their lives start taking a turn for the worst can they stay strong enough to pull each other through the storm and have the happy life they want and need? Can they really get their HEA?Fortunately this book did not end with a cliff hanger. It was a stand a lone and I am grateful for that. I dont think I could handle another to be continued right now. Maya and Jake were both great characters. You really feel for them and all the mess that they are being dealt with at such a young age. No one should have to deal with the mess they do especially at such a young age. Theresa did a great job writing this book and I can't wait for many more to come from her.REVIEWED BY ASHLEY GARLAND FOR SUMMER'S BOOK BLOG review 2: I loved this book so damned much, I loved Jake he was goofy, caring and sweet, "the edges of his mouth curved into a full smile. "You snort when you laugh." Maya, I noticed right off has some troubles fear of being left alone being one of them, "she pulled away from him. "And now you're leaving, which is just great. Why even bother having this dinner tonight if you're just going to take off in a couple of weeks?" Jake I loved his sensitivity when it came to Maya, "um..." what the eff was he supposed to tell her? The truth would crush her. He struggled and sat beside her. "I'm just tired." Eff. He was such an a**hole." I enjoyed this book so much. less
