Popular books are always an iffy thing since the reactions people can have are widely varied. Some people could love the book(s), while some people are the exact opposite of that.
I usually find myself in the in-between. I didn’t love the book but I didn’t end up hating it either. For this post though here are some popular YA books that I actually ended up enjoying!

Cinder by Marissa Meyer
I found Cinder to be quite the book, and fell in love with the story quite quickly. Of course there are some points and characters that I don’t like in the book, but that’s normal for me. And if I found that I didn’t have a problem with any of the characters or plot or something else, I’d be pretty concerned! Throughout Cinder I found that I was wrapped up in this completely unique world where Cinder (the main character), had to fight her daily battles with her step-mother just to survive day-to-day.
The Fault in Our Stars by John Green
I quickly fell in love with the characters that make up The Fault in Our Stars. I had managed to avoid any spoilers on the internet concerning anything TFIOS, which these days would be considered a miracle. The characters -all of them- pulled at my heart strings. And then the inevitable happened: I reached the end of the book. And then literally bawled my eyes out for a good hour or so. I then shelved the book, and haven’t read the book since then.
The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa
I remember thinking when I first read The Immortal Rules is that “Holy shit, character representation at its best!” And then proceeded to revel in the gore and bloody-ness as well as the horror that Alison ensues. The book isn’t too gory, but there’s enough which makes the scenes a great read. And paired with the actions scenes…..hoooolllyyyy smooookkes this book quickly became a favourite!
Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell
Fangirl is the first book I read of Rowell’s and honestly, I loved reading Cather’s story. I loved the college feel of the book. I loved the friendships that Cather made, and I love everything else the book had in the story. Just remembering everything that happened in Fangirl is just a huge reminder othat f why I enjoyed reading Fangirl so much int h first place. I’m due for a re-read of Fangirl soon!
Divergent by Veronica Roth
If there’s a character out there would describe me, or who I’d identify with the most, it’d be Tris. I found that many of our ideals and beliefs had matched up. I’m also pretty sure that Divergent was the first dystopian novel that I read. Divergent, to me, was a book that was completely raw yet still held the title of being futuristic and a complete reality. I was obsessed with Divergent, and literally couldn’t wait for Insurgent to be published.
Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Sáenz
The story that is Aristotle and Dante totally and completely blew me away. I found myself connecting with a few things that Ari talks about in the book. Like the distance he feels with his father. I feel that too. It was from then on that I realized that I had found another character that I could connect with. Both Ari and Dante are something to behold. They’re both so different in their own right, so with them being friends and then more just feels completely right to me.
