review 1: The story line was AWESOME, but the execution fell short for me. First of all, how bad of luck can this girl have. It got to be totally unbelievable. I loved the tension between the main characters. For a novella, they were surprisingly well developed. I would have liked a little bit more of an ending. Some sort of wrap up would have been a nicer way to end than the abrupt finish.I HATED the swearing. When an author has to repeatedly use cuss words, it really turns me off. None of my friends or family sound like these people. I was rooting for a relationship between the main characters. Then, the romance went from tension to wild in a matter of minutes. It would have been better if she would have closed the door on the bedroom if they needed to continue their phy... moresical relationship.
review 2: This novella is a part of the 12 NA’S of Christmas. It was a nice little story for the Christmas season. Jamie is headed to her hometown of Woodfalls for Christmas. On one hand, she likes going home because she misses her family and hometown. On the other hand, she dreads going home for the holidays because she is always single and does not have the best dating record. Jamie just wants to find that Mr. Right. It turns out that Jamie just so happens to be on the same flight with her childhood /high school crush Grant. They are both 23. Jamie had a secret crush on Grant for years. When they were little kids, Grant used to tease her mercilessly. Eventually, Jamie started to ignore Grant and he started teasing some other little girl named Amanda. When they reached high school, Grant started to date Amanda. Jamie was crushed. She started dating other guys but none of them were Grant. Also, Woodfalls was a small town and everyone knew everyone so Jamie said it almost felt like dating a relative even though she was not related to them. After high school graduation Jamie decided to leave Woodfalls. She thought that Grant and Amanda would eventually get married and she did not want to stick around and see that happen. Plus, she wanted to find that Mr. Right and the small dating pool in her hometown were not cutting it. Well Jamie did not have so much luck outside her hometown either. Ironically, Jamie started a blog called Cooking for Love that had little cooking segments on it with tips on things to cook for a love one. Whenever, Jamie calls home she always avoids asking about Grant.Jamie can no longer avoid Grant when she is stuck sitting next to him on a flight. Jamie thinks that Grant always disliked her because of the teasing. He still teases her when he sees her again. Upon, take off their plane crashes. This is just one of many mishaps. There are a couple minor injuries on the flight but nothing to serious. Jamie is very shaken up and is surprised by Grants attentiveness and concern towards her. Jamie’s calls her mom and tells her that she will still try to make it home for Christmas. There is no way that she is getting on another flight. She tells her mom that she will rent a car. Her mother does not want her driving by herself so Grant suggests that they travel together since they are both headed to Woodfalls. Jamie’s mom thinks s that is a splendid idea since she has always liked Grant. The last thing Jamie wants is to be alone in a car with Grant for hours. She agrees to the road trip anyway. They keep running into problem after problem. First they find out that all the hotels are booked within a 10 mile radius. Then, they find out that the only rental car available is a teeny tiny car and Grant is over 6 feet tall. Eventually, they find a hotel that Jamie refers to as “the roach motel”. The roach motel sequence was funny. There a towel incident. They get pulled over by the cops. There is a snow storm. Jamie keeps embarrassing herself in front of Grant. They meet some very nice people along the way and end up staying in a quaint little bed and breakfast where the only room is the honeymoon sweet…. Plenty more mishaps happen in the story. They have a conversation about their bad luck."Yeah, but I'm starting to feel like we're in one of those Final Destination movies," I said, resting my head against the steering wheel. The vehicle shook slightly from Grant's laughter. As always, I was so glad I was here to amuse him. "It's not funny," I stated, although my own lips began to quirk from watching him trying to hold his laughter in check. "You're like the ultimate traveling bad luck charm," Grant said, between howls of laughter. "Me? How do you know it's not you? I've never had this much trouble getting from one place to the other before," I said. ~ Tiffany King, Cross Country Christmas: A Woodfalls Girl NovellaOverall, it was a cute and funny story. It was one of those stories where the boy and girl liked each other forever but thought the other person did not return the feelings. Jamie and Grant finally get what they always wanted, each other. I wish the story would have been a little longer because I was enjoying it. I thought the ending was sweet but I wish that it would have shown them arriving home even if it was after Christmas. Normally I am not a stickler for spelling errors but Pittsburgh Steelers was mentioned in the book and was spelled wrong. It is not spelled Pittsburg. There is an h at the end. less
