review 1: This book made me so angry. Spoilers ahead. So I expected this to be kind of a "Devil Wears Prada" type story. I did not expect to hate Minty sooooo much. She was a doormat! And I realize she was young and naive, but come on! The message of this story seems to be completely mottled. Everything falls into Minty's lap, so it is not a message about working hard for success. Minty marries a man she's known three months, so it is not about waiting for the right one to come along. Minty was whiny, self-important, and just plain annoying. It is a miracle I got through this book (on audio). When it ended, I was so angry. I couldn't believe the book ended where it did. Ugh.
review 2: This would have been a fun beach read but I read it before our vacay. I liked the fact
... morethat the author is from Richmond, VA, where I live, and I can easily get sucked into a romance book. Her writing was light and lively and I really needed it after the bookclub selection, The Language of Flowers, by Vanessa Diffenbaugh. Whew, that really took me through a lot of emotions. I also liked the idea of a Southerner going up North and a young woman trying to make her way in the world...and New York's fashion world seems like quite an adventure. This turned out to be better than I thought it would be. less

Sweet little read that includes two of my favorite things, the south and New York City!
