review 1: With only 33 minutes to go before middle-schooler Sam gets his butt kicked by his former best friend Morgan, Sam explains how their friendship reached this low point - complete with a massive food fight, a fire, and several visits to the school principal. I felt this was a very real picture of middle school life (at least, the way I experienced it), but the outcome is depressing. For fans of books about school hijinks (think Diary of a Wimpy Kid).
review 2: I liked this story a lot. It was fun, honest, and realistically true. Sam and Morgan used to be best friends until middle school and an incident ended all that. That Sam is responsible for the incident is clear, but what happened is not revealed until the middle of the book. The story is told from Sam'... mores view and all occurs in just one short day with plenty of flashbacks; each chapter is just a few minutes of time. Everything from food fights in the cafeteria to an explosion that causes a fire in a science class move this fast pace story along. less
