review 1: I just finished Four Days With Hemingway 's Ghost a couple days ago and loved it so much I decided to jump right into another of Winton's books right away. While this one didn't pull me in as much as Hemingway 's Ghost, this is still a pretty entertaining read. It saddened me to see how poorly the women in Dean's life fared. On another note though, I find such inspiration in the realistic obstacles and successes one can only dream of in Winton's struggling writer characters! (Featured in both books I've mentioned) --- I know I'm bound to enjoy his other novels in the future.
review 2: I thought this book was pretty good. Even though I wished that it ended differently, I am glad that Dean made the right decision in the end. The book was bittersweet for me beca... moreuse it seemed as if Dean couldn't let himself just be happy with his life, because of the ghost of Theresa and even in the end, when they came together again, it was too late anyway. I would give this book 3.5 stars if I could and I did enjoy it. less
