review 1: More, please!I wish the publisher had been more generous with the selections included. This is a very thin volume.It would perhaps be understandable if this were a chapbook and Tranströmer was a young unknown. But with the low number of selection - and the general amount of white space on the pages - it's quite disappointing for a senior poet who has recently been awarded the Nobel Prize.
review 2: Wow. What can I say? With images of nature juxtaposed with modernity, Transtromer really hits the nail on the head. He captures our modern sensibilities perfectly, and our current struggle to preserve and remain in a world that is forever changed by the mark mankind has left upon it. There are so many amazing lines in this short collection of poems that leav... morees you wanting more. I, too am tired of those who come to me with, "words, words but no language." I have felt my, "phonecall glitter[ing] between the country side and the town...like the mess of a knife-fight..."This is truly a magical collection that deserves a place on the shelves of all who love poetry in any language. less
