review 1: I started reading this book half-heartedly so I wasn't paying enough attention in the beginning. I may have to go back and re-read a little. You must pay attention to all details. I didn't think I was going to be able to make it through the book and before I knew it I was sucked in. The way this book comes together at the end is amazing! My one complaint is some of the language. One particular word was used a few times (GD) and because of the context of the book it really should have been omitted in my opinion. But it doesn't take away from the great story this book is. A cross between "It's a Wonderful Life" and "A Christmas Carol" leaning more toward the dark side of "A Christmas Carol".
review 2: This book started out rather slowly for me. It tells of thre
... moree different men, who are having a tough time with life. They didn't seem to have any connections to each other for a good part of the book. Then they all end up on a train trying to go home, with an old man to guide them through some strange experiences. They are taken to places that teach them life lessons, and are given chances to take different paths, that will change the lives of many people. It has a little bit of The Christmas Carol to it. After the end of the book, the author says that The Christmas Carol is the only Christmas story, so he was very much touched by that story in creating this one. I would probably have given this book five stars, if the first part of the book had impressed me. This is one of the better Christmas stories I have read this year. less
