review 1: Fairly generic fantasy stuff; nothing particularly exciting or new-very good if you're looking for an easy, enjoyable read without too much brain power needed. There isn't much character development though they all seem likable in their own special way, or unlikable if like me you enjoy that sort of thing. I haven't read any other Trudi Canavan books, though from other reviews I'd say it's best to skip this trilogy and read one her others, instead.
review 2: The final book in the trilogy provided a satisfying ending but it couldn't save the trilogy overall. It was very slow to start and then seemed to rush to cram everything in to the final 100 pages. There were some improvements with the characters this time around. Lilia was not as helpless as she had been
... more before which was nice. Though I could have done without Sonea worrying about her crush in the middle of a battle. Seriously??? Overall, not her strongest work. I'd read the original trilogy and stop there. less

I thoroughly enjoyed this final to the trilogy. It rounded everything up but wasn't too neat.

I have no idea why I bothered to finish this series. Seriously.

The ending was as good as the Black Magician Trilogy.
