review 1: I have to start my review by telling everyone how I found this book. My husband and I travel 2 hours north of our home every so often for follow-up appointments at the cancer center that did his chemo and radiation treatments. We always stop at the bookstores while we are there. We went to Barnes and Noble and I was feeling pretty indifferent about all the books on my Kindle. (Even though I have a ridiculous amount of unread books to pick from) I have been reading so many BDSM books lately that I really wanted something outside of that type of storyline. I decided to buy a print book and something entirely different. I stumbled across “Werewolf in Alaska”. I love all things Alaska so the title caught my eye. Also, I’ve read and enjoyed many VLT books in the past but ... moreit has been a few years since I have read anything of hers. I figured I would give this one a try. I wasn’t disappointed. The only awkward moment resulted from me laughing out loud in the waiting area of the cancer clinic. Here I sit surrounded by many people in various states of their cancer and cancer recovery and I find myself literally holding in my laughter until I end up snorting. Yep. I’m all class! My thoughtsThis book is part of a series but it stood alone nicely. I have not read any of the other books (although I plan to) and didn’t feel like I was missing too much of a backstory. VLT did a great job recapping enough of the previous stories in just a few sentences that I didn’t get lost.“Werewolf in Alaska” is hilarious! There were several places that I laughed out loud. It was a great choice for the mood I was in at the time. The relationship between Jake and Rachel has a lot of push/pull. They are interested in each other but Jake is set against hooking up with Rachel because of the cause that he feels passionate about, werewolves and humans NOT mating. But the attraction between the two is too much to resist, especially as they begin to spend more time with each other. The situations that occur and the inner dialogue with the characters are funny. And the chemistry between the two is undeniable. I enjoyed this book from beginning to end. If you are looking for a paranormal with humor this may be a book you want to read. And if you do read it be prepared to find yourself smiling!Reviewer's note, full review can be found on my website Ramblings and Reviews.
review 2: The first book I've read in the "Wild About You" series. Very cute book. Characters were all likable. Rachel is an artist who carves things out of wood and has become an international success for her pieces. Jake Hunter, her neighbor who lives across the lake, was her very first customer and gave her the nerve to drop out of veterinarian school and do what she is passionate about. He also provides her nightly entertainment when he goes out skinny dipping in the lake. Jake himself is also rather curious about his neighbor and likes to go out at night and wait to see her when she makes her way out to her studio to work on her carving. Unfortunately for Jake, Rachel has a very large fault in that she is human. Jake is a werewolf and the founder of a group called WARM (Werewolves Against Random Mating). He is strongly against werewolf's mating with humans which seems to be a normal occurrence these days. When Rachel is threatened by a mother bear Jake steps in to save her and finds that staying away from her and ignoring his feelings is not at easy as he thought it would be. less
