review 1: I liked the book, but it was not what I was expecting. I was expecting more of Dewey's life and how he touched millions. Dewey had nothing to do with these cats. This is about other cats and their legacies. I think this book could have stood on its own, with a brief introduction on how Vicki came to know these stories. As it is, however, it seems like a blatant money-making scheme to profit from the first Dewey book and leaves me cold.
review 2: Loved the first book that was actually about Dewey, but this book seemed thrown together. As a cat lover and shelter worker, I wasn't able to get through the whole thing. The beginning of the book warns us to "not think about the way the featured people care improperly for their cats, but to just enjoy the stories... more." (Paraphrasing). Lots of indoor/outdoor cats that were continuously let out even after scrapes with bears and cars, etc. I just couldn't get into it. And as another reviewer pointed out, there was information in this book that didn't mesh with the first one I.E. - Dewey liked to ride only on people's right shoulder never the left, when in the first one it mentioned the left several times. Did anyone look over this book before publishing? And finally, each story ended with the featured cat's death. I cried 3 times and was only halfway through. Not an enjoyable read.I suggest reading the first one but not this one. less
