review 1: This was a really sweet Christmas-Dewey the library cat book. Dewey's books are based on true life stories of the real Dewey=Read=Moore cat. He lives at a library and helps the children and adults alike pick out books and just in general feel better. In this book this is his first Christmas and he's not sure about when decorations are being put up. However he loves the tree and actually helps decorate it when everyone goes home(by that he takes a string of red yarn and chase it around the tree. But his 'toy' is taken away and he becomes lonely once again. But it comes back a few days later with a blue ribbon! The library tells Dewey that because of his help decorating they won the decorating contest! If you've never read the Dewey books check them out, they are charmi... moreng...
review 2: This book was pretty cute. I liked the illustrations. They had a painterly effect. I think the illustrator may have been working from photos or using their own cat as a model for Dewey in the book because he was pretty spot-on. There is one part where he's looking at some yarn or something to pounce on and he has that "crazy cat look" in his eye. The use of the word "Dew-riffic" was a bit overboard, but I also have a bias against words like that (including purrr-fect).If there are more books about Dewey, I will certainly read them. less
