review 1: This is not a sequel, but rather an expansion of the topic about cats. While we will never forget Dewey, learning how other cats affected people's lives is truly incredible. As a cat lover, I enjoyed the emotional content of the book. Those who owned cats, considered them part of the family and eventually lost their animals can relate to the owners of the wonderful cats this book is about. The author mentions that we may disagree with the opinions and actions of other people, but we should respect them, which I completely agreed with
review 2: I actually would give this book a 3 and a half rating if that were permitted. This book is a collection of cat stories written by the authora of the first book about Dewey, the library cat. After the book was written, V
... moreicki Myron was contacted by other cat owners with their stories. Some of these stories are included in this book. Each story is interesting in its own right. Readers should know that there are bleak portions in some of these stories where the person who owned the cat went through negative events in their lives. So it can be hard going at times, because this isn't fiction. These events happened to real people. These stories also are testaments to the resiliency of humans and cats. I especially enjoyed the last story which is told in two pieces. The first one is about the man whom Vicki meets and eventually settles down with, and the second part is told from Vicki's perspective. The main negative for me about this book is that I felt the co-authors went on and on at times about how a cat had saved the day. The telling of the story was sufficient to illustrate this fact. But the authors would state this in the most general terms, sometimes multiple times in the same story. It almost felt like the authors were justifying the need to write this book. Another thing that struck me as a bit off was the fact that the authors seemed to impute motives and thoughts to their human subjects. I know that they interviewed these people, but it got to the point like I felt that there was too much assuming going on and not enough fact. The passages told in the first person, as a result, were the best in the book. less

Not as moving as the original Dewey book, loosely linked with it. Good for cat lovers.
