review 1: I was looking for something quick to read over the weekend after finishing a "heavier" book for my book club. I went onto my library's digital site to see what they had available in an ebook, and I found this. I had started reading the first book in the series awhile ago but never finished it; nonetheless, I thought I'd give this one a shot (mostly because I thought I had no better options).I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised by the story. I really liked Jamie, and I thought he was a pretty complicated character, especially considering he's from a romance. It was hard not to feel compassion for a guy who is carrying around some pretty heavy, unnecessary guilt from his childhood. He tried to do the right thing countless times, but the people around him reinforced his ... moreidea that he couldn't do anything right, and it was heartbreaking. Siblings are supposed to be there for you to have your back no matter what, and his definitely weren't there for him unconditionally, which I found sad.I might read more books by Dahl if I came across them, although I have no desire to read the third book in the series, as Eric (Jamie's brother) has proven himself to be a d-bag in my opinion. I don't think I could read an entire book about him, even if Dahl does try to make him seem human.
review 2: This is book 2 of the Donovan family series, and I think I liked this one the best. Jamie & Olivia were two very well fleshed out characters that could have been any of a number that you've known in your life. Jamie is part owner of the Donovan Brothers Brewery in Boulder, Colorado, along with his older brother Eric & younger sister Tessa. Book 1 was Tessa's story & Book 3 is Eric's story. Jamie works as bartender at the brewery, and his family feels that he's irresponsible and may never grow up, while Olivia is a teacher at the local college teaching about business startups. She is divorced from a college professor who you will love to hate. This is a great story about how Jamie & Olivia meet and fall in love as well as how they surmount the obstacles (mostly within themselves) that keep them from believing that they can have this happiness & be loved by and taken seriously by the other. less

Not as good as the first one though, but worth to read.
