review 1: I love this series! I did get really frustrated with this book at one point, though, and had to put it down and go to bed...I wanted Jamie just to let everything out!!! Glad he was finally able to open up and let Olivia know what he was going through, with his feelings about what happened to his parents. Eric was pissing me off in this book, even though he was the whole reason I got started on this series- hopefully he will redeem himself in his book! It was nice to see an "older" lady/younger guy couple...Olivia was perfect for Jamie.
review 2: This was an easy read but didn't really draw me in. There were some good things about this book, most particularly with the hero who really wasn't anything of a bad boy, although Jamie revealed emotional scars from his
... morereckless youth really only in the book's last half. The bad boy bit felt pasted on. More believable was his current conflict with brother and sister, partners in the brewpub that Jamie wanted to expand into a restaurant element with the help of Olivia and to see that he's constantly being ragged on by his siblings for being irresponsible and Olivia for being a baby? That didn't ring true at all.Olivia's university connections also rang false - I appreciate that the academic world doesn't come easy to outsiders so I was willing to give this a bye. Less so for Olivia's colourlessness. She was really not an engaging character and I was much less convinced of her driving ambition to reinvent herself personally or professionally. There's a romance that's heavy on the bad boy/good girl, younger man/older woman dynamics. The romantic scenes were well-written but I still had a hard time connecting with the characters or caring much about Jamie's family who feature in other volumes of their own. I would much rather have turned next to the story of Olivia's confidante, Gwen. Hers is a romance I would totally read! less
