review 1: This was a really fun book. Lori is a mechanic, wears coveralls practically 24/7, and the town believes she is a lesbian. On the surface, it might seem like she's a tomboy, but she was forced into this life. She's actually kind of girly and she resents having to live a life she never wanted, but she doesn't really have a choice. When the stress from bills, police visits, and existential crises gets to be too much she decides that she needs a stress reliever, if you know what I mean. In comes Quinn. Lori has known Quinn for years, since they grew up in the same town and Lori's best friend is his younger sister. However, they've just been friends, only seeing each other a couple of times over the last decade, but this time there's something different going on that makes them... more want to be FWB.I liked Lori. She was a funny character, but she was a bit melodramatic at times. She was too deep into her despair and self-pity to really do anything about her life. She did do some investigating on her own, but I found that annoying since she's unqualified and I also thought she was doing it because she was bored with her life. I loved Quinn so much. He was so dorky and nerdy and just everything that is the opposite of the typical hero. He was overeager, tended to space out, adorable, kind of naive, and overall just sweet. There's a scene where he sees Lori in a dress for the first time and he just acts like an over-excited puppy. He stares at Lori all goofy-like with a smile on his face and forgets about everything else. I think that scene encompasses him completely. He was also witty and funny and I just liked him a lot.As for the mystery part of the book, I figured it out as soon as the character was introduced. It wasn't that hard to be honest, and I was surprised it took anyone that long to figure it out. BTW, that scene at the end with Lori and the person is kind of eh. I thought she was reacting wrong. I think the book could have been longer, with a little more focus on the mystery stuff going on because that, along with Quinn's discovery of it, doesn't come around until the very end and it was anti-climatic. Overall, it was a really good book and I enjoyed reading it (mainly for Quinn. I need more heroes like Quinn).
review 2: The book was wonderful. Though the situation that was giving the main character problems was bland. Or dull in my opinion. I mean it was easy to figure out who committed the crimes that happened. I did enjoy the jokes though. And the "action" the took place between the main female and male characters. Victoria Dahl has done a good job of writing this book overall. I didn't know this was a trilogy book when I read this. I'm now interested in reading the other books in the trilogy. So, for all those people who are interested in some romance and action but, not on a high scale and more on a down-time, relaxing level, read this. Or read the first book in the trilogy and THEN read this. And then the third book if your still interested. Enjoy :) less

The premise was interesting enough, but it progressed too slowly for my tastes.DNF at 24%
