review 1: This is the second book in a series written by different authors. It could easily stand alone. I have read Victoria James' books before and I got exactly what I was expecting; a well plotted story of a romantic journey involving 2 characters I whose futures in which I would become emotionally invested. This story started out as a case of opposites attract and unfolded into a lovely story of 2 wounded people learning to live in the world and love again. The pacing was even, the primary and secondary characters engaging and interesting, the settings beautifully detailed and the dialogue fit the characters and the situations. *I received my copy from NetGalley.com in exchange for an honest review.
review 2: This was a very sweet read. Pretty calm and easy going
... more. Nice build up to the lovin' and a great HEA. Melanie (heroine) is a wedding planner and planning her childhood BFF's wedding. Cole (hero) is the BFF's brother that Melanie had always crushed on from afar. Cole was married to his HS sweetheart and not too long later, his BF, and wife died of cancer. It hit Cole hard (understandably) and he pretty much vowed to never love like that again.Melanie's past is no bed of roses either. She grew up with a family that sent her away to a private school rather than deal with her. They wanted nothing to do with her. She, trying to get over that fact, moved on without them and tried her best to make her own life successful with out their money, love or attention. She did leave behind a sister, who she loves very much, but isn't allowed to speak to due to the father's over the top controlling ways.Cole never really cared for Melanie. He always assumed she was a stuck up rich girl who was busy spending daddy's money. He didn't want to be around anyone like that, due to the fact that his parents, while profitable from the farm, believed and raised them to work hard and never ask for a handout.ANYWAY - it really is very sweet, with very hot sexy moments. I totally recommend this read as a break from the OTT angst we all find our selves addicted to. Kind of like some water in between our tequila shots! less
