review 1: Okay, this book is a follow up so if you haven't read That's a Promise.... Please promise me that you will!! You will have moments in the book that take you back to the first explaining things a little more, so you really should read that one first.Out with the man that breaks her heart (Blake) Josie is trying to piece her life and heart back together thinking she has to do it alone forgetting that she has someone that has always been there for her. Seth.So Josie is the kind of character that you can't help but identify with. Nothing is ever a perfect decision, we all tend to flip flop a bit on our way to self realization. The problem is we don't always have that one person that believes in us. Well Josie is lucky in that she has Seth to be her rock. The one person she can... more count on to love her no matter what messed up decisions she makes. The light to Josie's dark side, Seth is always there to help her through it all. This series had me from the first but I think that Victoria out did herself in this one. I can't wait to read the third to see where else Seth and Josie take me as their love grows.
review 2: That's a Lie is book two in the Promises, Promises series by Victoria Klahr. After reading That's a Promise I was in awe of the awesomenesss that is Victoria Khlar. Her debut novel seriously impressed me and I didn't know that she would top it. I thought I loved TAP but I loved TAL even more. I will tell you that from page one of TAP i was TeamBlake. And even after that ending, I was still TeamBlake. TAL picks up right where TAP left off, and after the whopper of a cliffhanger I was eager to dive in. I kept waiting for Blake to come back and realize that he made a mistake. But during all that waiting, it was Seth who started to take residence in my heart. For that I have to commend Victoria. I am pretty stubborn, and i don't want to say that I completely switched teams, but for the author to make me feel for someone other than "my" team says a lot about her writing ability. I found myself growing more disgusted by Blake's actions and swooning harder for Seth than I thought possible. Don't get me wrong, I am still hanging on to smidge of hope that Blake will resurface and have his HEA with Josie, but by the end of the book I found myself realizing that Seth was really her soulmate. Josie and Seth have both been through so much. My emotions were all over the place with this book. I hurt for the them and i laughed with them. Again, another testament to the writing ability of Klahr. She has a way with words that makes you feel like you are right there with them. While Josie still grated on my nerves a few times, I was pleasantly surprised with her character development in this book. I think she has come a long way.Klahr left me with me a smile on my face and a happy heart with the last chapter. I might have even gone back and read it a few more times. Just when I thought my emotions were in check, Klahr slaps us in the face with that epilogue that will leave you craving book 3! I can only hope that Josie, Seth, and even Blake get the HEA that they all deserve. Knowing Victoria, it will be one hell of a ride! less
