review 1: The injured young boy that Laird Claran MacGregor helps on his way home from court is actually Rosalia Armstrong. She was beaten by her parents for refusing an arranged marriage. Rosalia was mistreated all her life by her mother so she felt the only thing to do was run away. After Claran finds Rosalia hurt and alone he agrees to help her. She falls in love with his home, family and then the Laird himself. They get to know each other in the months that follow and it takes a kidnapping by the “bloody” Campbells for Claran to realize he can’t live without Rosalia.This is a wonderful story of two people who find each other despite lies, deceit and betrayal. You walk through this story easily, getting to know each of the characters smoothly, seeing the highlands through... more words as though you were there with the characters in the story. This is the first in a bad boys series of the highlands by Victoria Roberts. Check out this set for a great trip to the highlands!
review 2: This is a lovely Highlander romance.Rosalia is being paraded around King James´court because her parents need to find her a husband. They are very short of money , so they feel there is no choice but to take whoever offers for her. Rosalia is humiliated when she realizes that someone overheard her mother bullying her.Laird Cairan MacGregor is at court to be told by the King to stop the endless squabbles with the Campbells. He is worrying all the time he is there incase his youngest brother is misbehaving by drinking and wenching instead of looking after the clan.Rosalia´s parents have contracted a marriage with someone that she doesn´t want ,and when she tries to refuse her mother beats her brutally. So Rosalia runs away. Cairan and his men find her collapsed on their way home, and agree to help her. The characters in this are all good fun ,even the black sheep of the family. There is trouble with the Campbells and a vengeful woman from Cairan´s clan.I think there are some follow up stories to come, That I will be reading. less
