review 1: Unfortunately I couldn't finish it. I got it out from the library and I now see there are previous books in the series that perhaps I should have read first...However I found I couldn't connect very well to the central character Luba, the story felt a bit aloof and I almost felt I was watching all the action happening from a distance. The story (as far as I got) was a bit slow, and really didn't pick me up and carry me along with it. I prefer more action and a faster pace to my novels. The quality of the writing was excellent, and it read very smoothly and lyrically, but for me just too slow, and there wasn't enough interaction between the characters. It just wasn't to my taste unfortunately.
review 2: I couldn't really bring myself to care about the characters
... morevery much. While a few people said the sex scenes were hot, I didn't particularly think so. I figured she'd choose the man she chose and was disappointed in the ending. Basically, the story wasn't my cup of tea. She went from being a ballerina, to not being good enough for a company position (not that she tried very many) to being an illegal immigrant working in a pastry shop to a nude dancer (why not just say stripper). You know that bad porno where the sex scenes aren't very good and neither was the storyline? This was it. less

Morbid curiosity got the better of me. I do deeply regret reading this, but I was intrigued.

in my opinion the best one in the series (but, unfortunately, still not a good book.)
