review 1: Although, this book is eminently readable and fairly entertaining, a lot of it really is just a rehash of material that was already covered in the 2000 Mötley Crüe book, "The Dirt". If you've read that already, you may not be willing to rehash all that old material again, which is basically what "Tattoos & Tequila" does. It's amazing what a shallow, self-absorbed creep Neil comes off looking like, but I guess that's his problem and not mine. If you're a serious Mötley Crüe fan, or if you have five hours to kill and there's nothing on television, I can say that this just might be the book for you. Otherwise, I'd skip it.
review 2: I didn't know much about motley crue before I read this book and knew even less about vince Neil and this book was a real eye ope
... morener into such a crazy band. But vince Neil came across as being a complete dick and the people he slates i.e. nikki and tommy actually come out looking much better people than vince though I'm sure his intent was the complete opposite. Vince comes across as a self absorbed reckless idiot, he's cheated on all his wives, even on the night his daughter was born, he still drink drives despite killing his friend who he didn't even seem very sorry for, but I think it all comes down to him having a lot of issues and I think it's pretty clear that he buries a lot of stuff beneath the surface hence his heavy drinking etc. maybe he is sorry for a lot of things but doesnt know how to show it. in some parts he portrays a lonely man but every time you start feeling sorry for him he says something to make you realise it's all self inflicted, the sad thing is it doesn't seem like time and age has improved him at all. Nevertheless it's still a great read and a real page turner, there's some good stories and interesting characters especially the girls along the way, hard to believe someone can get that much sex. Since the book I've started listening to some motley crue songs and really enjoying them and I've now ordered the dirt as I want to now hear more about the other members of the band, good entertainment if nothing else. less
