review 1: I probably would have finished this book if I didn't have my eyes set on another, better book at the time. The problem was that it was EXACTLY the same as the first. Sure, of course the story itself was a tad different, but I'm talking about the premise of it all. Three boys, one school, one mean boy, one mean teacher, one friendly teacher, a rival school, secrets and such (frankly, it's exactly like Harry Potter, except Hermione is a boy named Rohan). Maybe I'll come back to it someday...
review 2: Dude. No idea why I read this, since the first book annoyed me so much. It's still a little too convenient at times, but so much better than Knightley Academy. I strongly suspect that these were sold as a two-book deal in which the publishers really wanted Secret Pr... moreince and didn't really care about Knightley Academy, but needed the first to set up the second. I also think Secret Prince bridges the gap between middle reader and YA very nicely. (Especially in the context of the first book, I still think it's more appropriately middle reader, though.) It'll be interesting to see if the third book sits firmly in the YA camp. Yeah I'll read it, too. less
