review 1: I liked the book but I thought that the author could spend less attention on Barney's Bar and more attention on what happened to the other characters, including Grace and Carrie. As it turned out, Carrie was a trailblazer in newspaper publishing and then married a successful farmer. After Ma's death, Mary came to visit her, had a stroke and died at Carrie's farm.I was saddened to hear about Almanzo's and Laura's struggles-but if they had eventually built a lovely home, fortunes must have been reversed (or they got some help from Rose). In either case, that would be something to discuss in the book-how they were able to get financially stable enough to create their dream house and how they were financial stable to visit Grace and Carrie in their ... more60's.
review 2: The Wilder Life by Wendy McClure is an incredible look at how deeply impactful books read as a child can be. McClure does basically anything related to the Little House books: she reads all the books, watches all of the TV show, goes on a road trip to the places mentioned in the books, and learns various crafts mentioned in the books. McClure has a hilarious writing style--I found myself laughing through most of the book. I adored this book. I would recommend it to anyone who read the Little House books when they were young. less

Really should have been about half the length, but completely related to her Laura obsession.
