Pirate by Clive Cussler and Robin Burcell was an Audible listen. This is the eight installment in the Sam and Remi Fargo Adventure series.
It was boring, formulaic, and uninspired. Truth was, I couldn’t finish listening to the book and it’s been sitting there on my phone taking up memory unnecessarily. How can it be an “adventure” book when it puts the reader to sleep?
Maybe it has everything to do with where we currently are, enjoying winter on the Oregon coast, but this novel failed on every level for me. Maybe it would have resonated better in the middle of summer, in sweltering heat of the mid-West where we are planning to be for the eclipse, state fairs, and festivals. But in late December and January this novel just fell incredibly flat.
One star out of five possible for disappointment and boring me into a reading/listening slump.
