review 1: disappointed doesn't even begin to cover what I feel about the book. at first it took sooooo long to finally get on track with the plot. the characters looked pretty interesting, that's why I kept on with reading. but unfortunately the case was a bit too difficult for the read with all the different names and different suspects, too bad because I like a really good case. but then, after 300 pages there was finally a possible relationship inside and I was hopeful again. but my hope were crushed with the rushed ending. they didn't talk a bit about where they stand...too sad.I wanted to give the book at least three stars, because of the very likable characters. but I couldn't bring myself to do it with all the stuff I just wrote before.
review 2: Oh wow. Have you
... moreever read a story and wished you'd written it yourself? That's how I felt after reading High Concept by Whitely Gray. What an amazing ride! First you have a homicide detective with PTSD, then you add in an FBI profiler with his own issues. Pit them against a sociopath who believes that murder for personal advancement is perfectly reasonable. Add in some smoking chemistry, and complex, layered characters, and you've got a recipe for a killer (pun intended) series. There's a lot going on in this story, and at times, you might wonder if there is almost too much. But I've been there; I know what it is like to set up the threads for future installments within a series, and believe me, you don't want to leave everything tied up neatly in a bow at the end. You need to leave some bread crumbs pointing to the next story. Some people might feel this story is more about the case and less about the relationship between Beck and Zach. I actually think this is a plus. There is a gritty authenticity to the problems these men face in their professional and personal relationship. These are men of action, and this is an action-packed story. Moreover, I *believed* it. Gray pulled me in from the get-go.I saw on Facebook that the author is working on the next in series, and all I can say is HOORAY! I am definitely looking forward to more of Beck and Zach! less

Slow start, but a nice plot. Good chemistry. Rape never sits well with me.
