review 1: I gave up on this one 58% though (and the last ~20% of that I really just skimmed). This world has potential, and I feel like the author has some interesting ideas to explore, but I couldn't get into it at all. Lots of action and extreme suffering and interesting powers - but the characters weren't interesting or likable, and the storyline felt erratic and didn't draw me in.Another reviewer said it best when she compared the book to a He-Man cartoon.
