review 1: Parts of the book are intriguing; however, the book is far too long. The final four chapters are little more than lists of all the activities the Queen Mother took part in during her final years. By contrast, the first half of the book reads more like a social commentary on England and the royal family from 1900 through the end of World War II. ... morelter Isaacson's 650 page biography on Steve Jobs)...there was just so many small details. Of course I wanted to know more about how she felt about Princess Diana...that was a blip in the book. Next I would like to read more about her daughter, Queen Elizabeth II. Not THAT much. Just a little. less
