review 1: This was free on aRe as part of the Twelve Days of Christmas promotion. I need to stop downloading and reading books just because they're free.This was somewhat a play on Goldilocks, it seems. In a small way.Nothing earth shattering was revealed. It played out as expected. The characters seemed like cardboard cutouts to me. The book could've benefited some further editing. There were missing words, oddly structured/phrased sentences and some things were just confusing in places. Also, I found myself almost disliking the hero at the end of the book for his making the "run", anyway. He's hot on the tail of some other female when the heroine gets there just in time. Bullshit.
review 2: I love a good shifter book, but this is a Excellent one!Riley Gold, by... more chance or the Great Spirit, has a accident on her way to her family. After running away from a toxic relationship, she decides to start over again at the beginning. She sees a light through the woods, runs for her life to a house, and meets Theo Kodiak. Although weary if strangers, Theo allows Riley to stay in his home while she waits to get help. While there, the attraction between the two becomes very intense and the memories of things long past come to light. Could they have known each other before?As they try to fight their blooming feelings, Riley falls in love with Theo's twin sons, Aubrey and Bernie, and the town of Den County. She realizes she doesn't want to leave Den County but she has been running so long she doesn't know how she can stay. Even with the love of a good man and his children.Theo is still trying to deal with the death of his wife, raise two boys, and keep his business growing. He knows he needs to find a Mother for his boys so he decides to participate in the First Frost Moon festival but before he can he mets Riley and his whole being is rocked. Who is she and what is she doing in Den?I loved each page and as I read I too fell in love with Den with Riley. From the honey craving, fish feening, and a true sense of communtiy, how could you not!? Great Story, Ms Hines! Waiting to read the next one! less
