review 1: A beautiful story surrounding the Titanic disaster, the lives lost and the love and family found. Following the main character, Lydia, the story is interwoven with those connected to her through friendship and tragedy. While the Titanic’s maiden voyage was key to the tale, much of the story took place after the survivors arrived in New York and involved the lesser-known assistance provided by the people of Nova Scotia.I loved some of the characters, their complicated relationships, and how the story crossed generations. This is one of the better Titanic stories I have read and, I almost never do this but, I would read it again.
review 2: I bought this as a Kindle book as I enjoy all things Titanic. My grandfather knew one of the Philly families which peris... morehed on the ship so guess this always intrigued me. Although the book is fiction, it has a lot of facts intertwined within the book so it actually feels as if you are reading a real account of real events on the Titanic. I don't want to write anything about the book and give away what it is about because that is what I'd have to do. I found the writing very good. The other people in the book were real passengers aboard the ship. The author must have done a large amount of background studying, reading of old newspapers, and reading accounts of the ships descriptions as I found it all right on as to all previous accounts that I knew about. As I read, I felt as if I were there on the ship, as if 100 years could be yesterday. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in the Titantic, its' history and what sailing on her may have been like. The author nailed how the awful sinking was to both those who survived and those who went down with the ship and knew there was no hope. Loved this book, the author did an excellent job keeping me interested. The lives of those who survived continued way past the sinking. Their lives were intertwined in a way that brings the ending of the book to an appropriate ending. Lovely book, I highly recommend. Some adult content so I do not recommend for those under 16. less
