review 1: Mark Twain is credited with stating, "Truth is stranger than fiction, but it is because fiction is obliged to stick to possibilities; truth isn't." I'm not sure Twain really understood the potential for alleged impossibilities in our own reality but Zach Fortier does. "CurBChek", Fortier's first book, recounts his experiences in the military and in law enforcement through a sequence of individual encounters which do nothing short than abuse his reader's innocence until he/she is no longer the naive Daywalker Fortier references in this work. Impossibilities suddenly become possible with the turn of each page, and Zach Fortier writes in the same way he worked - fearless and honest, laying everything on the line until there is little more to give. "CurBChek" is an extraordi... morenary read, the start to a collection of work that attempts to sort through the reflections of a self-described "damaged" man. Pick this up and you won't put it down.
review 2: Curbchek is a decent read. It's written differently, a lot of different stories, not really a novel. There wasn't a beginning, middle, or end. There is no real character development and no introduction or background to "get to know" Zack, so it was difficult for me to develop any feelings for him, positive or otherwise. There was no plot, just accounts of different situations and people encountered on the job.I could take or leave this one. I didn't like it and I didn't dislike it, thus the 3-star or "neutral" rating. It was well written and easy to read. There was coarse language and lots of violence. less
