Charlie Fox
review 1: Although Charlie's exploits frequently stretch the limits of imagination, the character is interesting and how she has chosen to work and build a life for herself is, for want of a better word, inspiring. Her partner and lover, Sean Meyer, is recovering from a serious head wound and large chunks of their past lives together are missing. So Charlie has the extra work of letting it appear that Sean is running the show, while she tries to contain damages from the sidelines. Her weariness shows through - she finds herself thinking of turning more and more to Parker Armstrong, Sean's partner and Charlie's boss -- but knows that would create an even bigger problem. There is the usual mayhem and dangers to their principals - the people they are paid to protect; and a good mix... more of business and the more personal issues between Charlie and Sean. And the decision Sean seems to have made in the last pages of the book must change everything as their story moves on - looking forward to next book.
review 2: Given a major event affecting Charlie's life in the previous book, I was sure that I would hate this one. Not so. Sharp figured out a great twist that kept this volume from turning into a soap opera. In fact, this may be the best book of hers I have read. I was very close to hitting that fifth star. Sharp has left herself with another decision to make at the end of this book. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that she will make the decision I want her to make. Oh--kudos to Sharp for reminding us that we have never kept faith with New Orleans. The need is still great. less

Very suspenseful with all it's plot turns. I don't like how it ended though.
