review 1: I had problems rating this book. I knew the majority, if not all, of this story is based on Scott's life. That being said, I also know it had to be much more exciting than how it was written. I came into this story expecting a steamy hawt read with possible love triangle scenario. What I got is what follows. The story starts off with a great prologue giving us an excellent narrative of past events that shape who Scott becomes post war and why. The story then continues in a present/past narrative telling with very little dialogue until you reach about chapter 7 or 8. There is more dialogue after this point but it battles with the narrative to get action. Don't get me wrong, the narrative is written very well. You learn quite a bit about the middle east, what it's like being... more over there, and some about the characters. The dialogue needed lots of work. I was craving character interaction and I felt like I was denied and told to sit still you'll get it when I get there. The sex scenes weren't hot and steamy. They were a touch romantic with just enough detail to say oh he's gonna give me something...and it's gone limp :( . Which isn't bad if I were reading a contemporary romance, but when I'm reading an erotic tale there better some parts that make my toes curl. There were a lot of sentences repeated although worded a tad differently and words missing here and there. Brittany's character could use some work. She's supposed to be trying to weasel her way in and she reminds me of Miley Cyrus trying to do her body guard at age 14. I have been looking forward to reading this story for a while to see how the male brain operates and I felt like Scott took us on a guarded tour of it behind velvet ropes with a sign saying do not enter beyond this point. I also found that for a romantic/erotic read I pretty much accepted I wasn't going to get what was promised and looked forward to the telling of war and how he would make it out alive instead. I'm not sure if I will read the next book or not. We shall see.
review 2: Looking for a new book boyfriend? Look no further, meet Scott all round action man and such a romantic....Scott is is out the armed forces and has had a lot to deal with until he meets Katie, she turns his world around. He loves her so much his prepared to take a dangerous job in a foreign country. Even long distance you can feel there love for one another.Six months in a war torn country, protecting a woman that is used to getting what she wants....it's not going to be easy. You go through so many different emotions on this journey, it bought a few tears to my eyes too!The characters are very real, and even though Scott is an action man his soft and loveable and ooh so romantic! I haven't mentioned his Scottish accent, when Scott speaks it written as spoken and you hear a Scottish accent, sexy :) You will really enjoy this book, action, scheming, and romance.4.5 vampy and racey stars.**I received an arc of this book a while ago now, but have finally read it to give an honest review** less
