review 1: Like many manga, I saw the anime first which is why I knew to keep my eye out for these when it came out in English. The anime expands on things that the anime did not, which makes following the story easier. One of my favorite things about this series is the afterwards that talk about why things were translated a certain way and to give the English readers some background about different gods or cultural aspects that might not translate as smoothly.
review 2: Cute! Really really cute. I mean, cute isn't technically the right word, because there was some pretty cool stuff in there too (the spirits and the shinki and Yato's actual godlike side the few times he showed it). But the overarching feel is cute. Yato is adorable. (UNMARKETABLE.) Yukine is a little snot
... more. Surprisingly though my favorite was Hiyori - I'm not usually a huge fan of the main female character in stuff like this (I fully expected Yato to be my favorite) but Hiyori is AMAZING. She's funny, real, and basically awesome. I can root for her even more than Yato and I'm a huge fan of this.Though I have to wonder about the girl in the first chapter. It seemed a bit strange to start with her and showcase her oddities and then abandon her. She's going to show up again, I predict it. less

Silly and funny yet nothing much happened in this volume for it to be rated above 'it's okay'.

Funny, suspenseful, and full of action and ayakashi. Awesome mix.
