review 1: I wish I could give this 10 stars. To date it's the only WWII book that's ever made me cry, which is saying a lot actually. This was an incredible story. I really appreciated the insight into how the German military felt about the war and what it looked like from their perspective. I feel like saying anything about the climax of the book, the act of chivalry referenced in the title, would be a spoiler. But suffice it to say I had goosebumps.
