review 1: Lot of people seem to rate it highly or just dismiss it. But what book doesn't receive this treatment? It's almost as if the reviewers are working through an agenda of their own. Perhaps we all are. I found the book intriguing at first, a little slow in the middle but thoroughly enjoyed the end. Prettying the same I could say with most books. But there was something else, not just the vivid metaphorical language, but something elusive that pulled me back in till the final, final words. Perhaps, it was just something on my agenda.
review 2: There's something so addictive about dystopian fiction, and 'Nod' is no acception. Similar to the novel 'Blindness' by José Saramago, 'Nod' takes a similar premise - take away something normal, something we take for grant
... moreed and turn it on its head. Instead of sight sleep is taken for no known reason from the vast majority human population. Set from one man, Paul's, perspective in Vancouver 'Nod' follows twenty odd days as the mass insomnia breaks down society and human nature to its bare barbarism. Paul being one of the very few people who can still sleep is an outsider as his world collapses into chaos. Enjoyable, fast paced and leaves a lasting impression; definitely a recommended read for science fiction fans or those who want to read something different. less

A little verbose, but I guess it's supposed to be. The lead protagonist was a useless dickhead.

Wish I thought of this concept first!
