review 1: This book is similar to a graphic novel, but for young readers. It could be shared as a read aloud with children between birth and four years old. It features Lilly and her teddy bear as they explore different seasonal activities. It could be used to help children develop an understanding of the seasons, vocabulary words for colors and seasonal objects. It features very simple texts and illustrations, but may appeal to some children and provides a variety of concepts that parents could explore with young children.
review 2: 1. Genre: Junior Book/Graphic Novel2. Summary: Silly Lilly loves to do enjoy all four seasons outdoors. Follow her through this graphic novel as she explores all the fun things kids can do during the different seasons.3. Critique:a. One o
... moref the greatest strengths of this title is the use of illustrations.b. Of these, the strongest is the illustrator’s use of different types of clothing for the different seasons. For each season, Lilly can be seen in weather appropriate clothing. For example, on page 25 Lilly is enjoying the winter season. She is seen wearing a sweater, hat, mittens, and boots.c. Rosenstiehl uses every possible space in this graphic novel to entertain and educate the reader. For each season, Rosenstiehl has offered the reader a plethora of visual cues to determine what month Lilly is experiencing. This is extremely useful for primary-aged students who may not be able to read all of the text. On page 7 Lilly carries a flower to help the reader to understand that she is playing in the park during the springtime. Summer is represented on pages 16 and 17 by showing Lilly playing in shallow water in her bathing suit. On pages 20 and 21 Lilly shares her experience of picking apples during the fall months. 4. Curriculum Connection: This graphic novel would be a fantastic teaching tool for educators working with students in primary grades. While introducing students to the different seasons, which are discussed regularly during calendar time, Silly Lilly and the Four Seasons would be a great read-aloud option. less

This is one that I didn't personally enjoy, but I can see its popularity with our younger patrons.
