review 1: A.J. Jacobs is amusing and sometimes downright funny, but his coverage of the info is highly subjective and -- appropriately, I guess, since he's a magazine editor -- as shallow as a magazine article. Moreover, he has that outlook so annoying in New York/Northeast/left coast residents: a seeming blindness even to the passing suspicion that their liberal bias isn't just the way "normal" people think. Nevertheless, the book was a quick and entertaining read, and so I'll round its rating from two-and-a-half stars (okay-plus) up to three.
review 2: Entertaining and moderately humorous, but lacking in depth. I used it as a treadmill time-filler and for that purpose it served me well. For those new to self-care, there very well may be a large amount of beneficial inf
... moreormation here in a fun to read format. For me, someone with a modicum of background in nutrition, stress management and preventative medicine, Jacobs repackages the basics and shines light on a few new off-the-wall strategies for self-improvement. less
