review 1: This was one of those books that I took a chance on based on the price and the reviews. It is one of those stories that is set up beautifully and captured me from the beginning. Were there parts that could have been omitted, I think so, but all in all it helped to show the complexity of each character and the pain and issues that brought them to each other. Dylan and Kai slowly (although it really was over the course of a few weeks) found a deep connection with each other. The book does tackle a very serious subject in a very sensitive way, and I am so hoping that there will be an addictional book to pick up where this on left off. I want to see Kai receive some vendication for being such a good and loyal friend, and I want to see Jeremy suffer the consequences of his beha... morevior. Worth the read!
review 2: Dylan is a college student selected to film a webcast series on Kai White, a famous rock star who is going solo. Kai's career is going down the tubes after a fist fight with his former band member. The webcast is to showcase Kai's real personality & hopefully show him in a better light. Kai falls for Dylan immediately but Dylan has been warned to keep their relationship professional. Dylan is also promised the rights to the webcast if she can get Kai to talk about the reason for the fist fight. As Dylan records Kai's personal moments she gets to know him as a person, finding out that Kai had a rough childhood & is very sensitive for a rock star. There is a lot of jealousy surrounding Erica, Kai's former publicist who dropped Kai & went into hiding. A great deal of the book actually surrounds Erica & Kai's former band member & the fight, probably setting us up for book #2 in the series. But I found the story to just go on & on & on - I got incredibly bored & found that I didn't really care about Dylan or Kai. Kai asked Dylan for a commitment and she freaks out...because of her dead brother and the opportunities for happiness that he'll never have? She feels guilty? Hmmm...weird. I just didn't feel an attachment to the story or the characters & the action was limited & pretty timid, not hot like you'd expect from a rock star. less
