review 1: This book is enjoyable and good fun. The book contains two separate stories linked by a sexual ‘smutiness’ that is written to take the reader by surprise. Essentially both stories suggest that a sexual awakening is a possibility in all of us if you meet the right person, in the right place. Both stories go back to that old statement ‘it’s always the quiet ones’. The book is not sexually explicit or offensive, it’s a humorous ‘poke’ at society about making assumptions about people when none of us have any idea what goes on behind closed doors. Bennett has a way of taking his characters out of their typecast and putting them somewhere entirely different. A very easy read for when your mind is full.

... moreere entertaining but not my favorites. The Greening of Mrs. Donaldson tells of a widow who works part time at the local hospital pretending to be a patient with certain ailments for student doctors to diagnose and learn how to deal with patients. To supplement this she decides to rent a room to medical students. Some the acting scenes are very funny. The interaction between her and her renters is the part I didn't care for. Their payment 'in lieu' of rent I found awkward. The Shielding of Mrs. Forbes tells a convoluted tale about a family with secrets, where everyone has an agenda and thinks they are keeping the others in the dark; sort of a Moliere comedy. less

Funny. Bennett can get away with some dirty, snotty humor because he's old ...
