review 1: This book was excellent. The story was enthralling, and the character development fully fleshed out. There were surprises but the clues were all laid out in advance. The story was told according to 2 chronologies - one that played out in the past that was juxtaposed with the future (current time). It was clever and the bringing of the past to the present was done masterfully. Excellent thriller and mystery.
review 2: Alan Jacobson delivers another page turner in this 4th installment of FBI Profiler Karen Vail, a fiery redhead with severe attitude. If you haven't read his books, start now. It is best advised to read the Vail series in sequential order, if at all possible. As with all of his books, Jacobson gives the reader factual information wrapped up in a ... moretightly woven fictional story. Of interest to me was the fictional account of events that occurred in the book have historical significance with regards to actual events that took place at Alcatraz.
