Bewitched and Bewildered

review 1: This was just hilarious! So funny! I can't really remember the last time a laughed so hard while reading, maybe while reading the part with the cat in "Wallbanger". The Alpha Units "mission" to the grocery store was just brilliant! But while it was very funny and I really liked the world it still left some things to be desired. I often felt like the plot was all over the place and some things was way to convenient. That made me kind of sad because if the plot hade been more tight and a little more complicated this would have been one of my top reads. The romance was also kind of undeveloped. I did't get a grip on it and the progression of the romance didn't feel logical to me. Kind of like the plot the romance was also all over the place, no direction and no history. It ha... mored no real growth since it felt like new pieces was added on a whim. There wasn't often a build-up or a background. But it is still a good story and I laughed A LOT. So it gets four stars from me mostly because of the humor but also the characters. I will enjoy reading the rest of the series and I'm already waiting impatiently for the next one.
review 2: As a fan of Alanea Alder, I had high expectations before I even read this book. Nothing prepared me for how fantastic this book and its characters are. Meryn is most certainly the star of the story. Her pop culture references are hilarious; and her character as a whole is a joy to read about. I hope to see her character in the books to come. She is far too awesome for one book. I hope this series follows Alder's other series about Arkadia where all the characters are kept and used in every book. There isn't a single character that I would want lose in this book-- even that vampire douche-bag... (Confused? You'll get it if you read the book.) So for any of you guys wavering on reading this book, look no further. This book is a great read and you won't be disappointed. less
