review 1: Beautiful photographs, and I really liked the way the book is organized: first taking us through the seasons in turn in both the Arctic and Antarctic, then through the evidence for and perils of melting ice caps, and last, but not least, through the difficulties they had in filming Frozen Planet. Some of the essays felt a little unclear or incomplete, but for the most part were interesting and informative. I haven't seen the series in its entirely yet, but this definitely makes me all the more eager!
review 2: This book provides an excellent accompaniment to the incredible BBC TV series. It follows a similar format to the TV series, covering life at the poles over the different seasons. The book is very large format and contains some outstanding photography as
... morewell as informative text. The last chapter is particularly interesting since it describes how the TV series was made and how some of the more unusual shots were obtained. A fascinating addition to anyone's bookshelf. less
