review 1: This is an excellent autobiography of one of the great running minds.I almost didn't read it. I'm not sure I'm glad I did.See, after last year's US national championship track meet, Salazar used his (and his employer Nike) influence to disqualify two rival runners in what was obviously an abuse of power. (Note: not a sports quibble, this was nearly universally recognized as flagrant.)But I do like reading his story and enjoyed his perspective. I think it's clearly HIS personal narrative and am uncertain an unofficial biographer would tell the same tale, but if you like running books, this is a good one.

... morento this. But I find the author to be tiresome & irksome. He comes across as smug and incredibly full of himself. It is one thing to write a book & say " I am proud of what I have achieved." It is another to speak of yourself as if you are the best ever & no one can top you. That just makes you arrogant- which is exactly how he comes across. In the end, at about 1/2 way through, I had to abandon the book. I hate to do that, but when you dread your 'for pleasure reading' then know something is amiss. less
