review 1: This is a short story lead in to a series. I really liked this one, and it works-I want to read the series. It is an interesting tale about a young man named Sage who ends up going to prison because he was driving under the influence and someone got injured. He was sentenced to a year. He knew it wasn't fair to expect that his girlfriend Laura to wait for him, and he tells her so. Once he is in his cell, he meets his cellmate Xavier. Xavier pushes him hard from the get go to realize that in prison, guys get together and you need someone to protect you. Especially someone as good looking as Sage. Sage fights him on this over and over. But things eventually happen. Sage comes to realize that he might not want it to stop. But when his year is up, he is back in the real world ... morewith his girlfriend who did wait for him. Sage is scared that prison really changed who he was. His girl didn't turn him on any more. But can he admit the truth to himself? And when he runs into Xavier on the out side, will he be able to deal with the situation? This story was really interesting without being disrespectful of any sexuality. In fact, it allowed the characters to accept who they really were, underneath. I am looking forward to delving into this series. This author has really sparked my interest! If you like m/m stories, check it out.
review 2: This book was deliciously subversive and sexy. A straight man goes to jail and quickly becomes targeted by his cellmate as a sexual conquest. Horrified and disgusted, he makes it very clear that this will never happen. But when he faces the alternatives, including being up for grabs by any and all other prisoners in the system, he wisely changes his tune. Strangely, he cellmate promises he will never force him...that he won't have sex with him until he begs...And eventually, beg he does!HOT. less
