review 1: As always, I'm a sucker for a series like this. I love getting glimpses of the characters that will be revisited later. I enjoyed the irreverence of the Lords of Vice, and I'm sure I'll love getting to read the next stories. Historical romances always get me because I find the different times so fascinating compared to today when it comes to the ways people lived and what was considered socially acceptable. I think Sin's story was a good lead in to hopefully what will be a great series. I liked Juliana as a character. She seemed to have more confidence and personality than a lot of women in romance novels. I hated that their courtship was conducted mostly off-camera, so to speak. Sin's sister was particularly annoying, however. I understand that she is the only fa... moremily he has left, but it didn't really follow his character for him to let people think she told him what to do, especially over such a petty reason. I expected him to make more of a point of doing what he wanted and not what his sister wanted him to do. Juliana's mother was another character that I didn't particularly like. It didn't make sense to me that despite everything she had put her family and especially Juliana through, they all just brushed it under the rug and forgave her as though it were nothing. I understand that the author was trying to show that both she and Alexius had their devious natures and that's why they could get along, but still, she sold her daughter into prostitution! Despite that discouraging plotline, I'll be reading about more of the Lords of Vice eventually, and I can't wait to meet the rest of them.
review 2: This book was horrible. I could barely finish it. I was so excited about a new series to read and now I'm terribly disappointed. Is this her first book? The most hilarious part is that she dedicated the book to her editor... That woman did her no favors. I love a good steamy romance but there were so many holes in the story . Nothing was historically accurate. Juliana and her family worry about scandal and their reputation but then there is a whole scene in a public place where Juliana is made out to be the biggest whore in town. I don't know why we continued to worry about reputation. At that time her reputation is gone. Her family ruined and no one would touch any of them with a ten foot pole if Juliana had just kissed a few guys, much less had rumors going around that she fucked every guy in town. I mean seriously do your research!!! Or if you don't feel like doing research then don't even bother mentioning things like scandal and ruin because being the town whore or even suspected of it would have ruined her and her family.Next, in a love story people are supposed to fall in love. We're supposed to see it happen. The author completely skipped all that. I'm reading: they meet, they hook up, I turn the page and "I've been his mistress for several weeks and we've fallen in love with each other"....what?! When did that happen? Sweetheart, if you are going to write a love story here is a tip: Don't completely skip over the part where they fall in love. Ugh, I hope this author has fired her editor and learned to write since this book. I will read the reviews for the other books in the series and if they show up at the used book store I will see if things have improved but I'm certainly not paying $7.99 again. less

The story lacks the propriety that must be present in a regency era book.
