review 1: Great plot with a hint of mystery. Mystery is always good! ;)The only thing I didn't like was how annoying and sexist Polly could be, but I understand it was because she was from the 50s. It just was a little too much for me, otherwise it would've gotten a five star rating, for the excellent writing. It was almost always interesting and kept me wondering. I usually figure things out fast, but it took me a while to guess why their father had left them there. The story revolved around two kids who found their great-uncle and aunt (still their age) frozen underground. Their hearts frozen so that they stayed just the way they were when they were put in their sleeping chambers.Bascially for most of the story, we see them getting to know 2010 and it was amusing to see how kids fr... moreom 2010 reacted when they really had to think about the world they lived in. We don't see that the world wasn't and won't be like it is forever. Things change, we just don't notice for a long time because we're living it day to day. We take things for granted. So that part was amusing.Though, I kind of have to say....I think they were exaggerating how polite kids in 1950s could be. Kids are kids and they've been rude since the being of time, I don't think kids in the past were that perfect and accepted everything their society tried to instill. We don't today....Society tries to form us in certain ways and make us conform, and yes, millions do, but some of us don't. Quite a few, and I'm pretty sure they had those in the 1950s to. I'm just not convinced kids could be that polite hahaAnyways, during the time the kids are learning....government agencies learn about their existence and start trying to piece together what happened to their father. The mystery is rather fun and keeps the reader guessing and wondering, and we are left with a satisfying end. :)It was a good read and recommend it to any child (or adult haha) interested in sci-fi, "time-travel", mystery and humor. It's got all that! :D
review 2: What a thrilling book for older children. When Ben and Rachel, two English children experiencing a typical wet, dull, summer holiday, find a hidden underground fault they consequently dive into a page-turning adventure. Inside they find two children, Freddy and Polly and their puppy, Bessie in cryonic suspension since 1956. They accidently awake them and in doing so, reopen the mystery surrounding their suspicious disappearance. This book was well-written, exciting and funny as two children have to adapt to life in the 2009! Recommended for all ages. less

Good science fiction, funny in parts, great for comparing 1950s w/ 2010s.
