Heart of Carolina
review 1: I felt a little unsatisfied at the end of this novel. Without spoiling the novel for those who decide to read it, there are some unresolved issues that really put me off about this book. However, her depiction of North Carolina is so spot on, it literally brings you to the southern state. (I should know, North Carolina is my home!) Her description of characters, their southern dialect, ways, behaviors could not have been more adhering to those of us with deep southern roots.Anyone can write about a place, but to capture it's inner beauty while staying completely true is a difficult feat.Would love to read more!
review 2: Interestingly, I've been reading other reviews and some people think this book is quite cliché. But in comparison to a lot of other cliché ro
... moremantic novels I've read (okay partially read; I tend to not read my books completely, but when they get exciting I skip fragments) lately, I feel this one stands out in a positive way. This book is not mainly a romantic novel, it is more of a psychological novel, about the feelings and experiences of the main character. What I like about it is the writing style of the novelist; you can tell that this person is a writer of class (at least in my humble opinion.) As another reviewer puts it, it is sort of 'lyrical.' She writes well, and she is good at describing things. Also, I like the characters. Most of them come off as pretty real, which is great. Also, you can laugh at them, occasionally. As I said earlier, it is a sort of sad book. But there are funny moments in between that I had to laugh at.What I like about it is the main character is definitely not run-of-the-mill. She is unique. As other people say the ending could be considered kind of abrupt; but that doesn't bother me. It can actually be a mark of a good novel nowadays. Anyway, what would be good to add is that it is part of a series. less

I did enjoy reading this book but I feel at the end that some of my questions were not answered.

Hallo daar, mega-passief hoofdpersonage en plot zonder enige vorm van interessante wendingen.

Easy read, quick to finish. Story kind of drags at times only to reach an abrupt ending.
