review 1: The main character, Deena, is having a difficult time with scars both physical and emotional from a recent car accident and break-up with her fiance. The cabin in the Smoky Mountains that her grandfather left to her upon his death is exactly what she needs to get away from all the hurt.Writing in her journal, teaching middle school children how to cook and a mentally challenged friend all help her start the healing process.I enjoyed the references to the Smoky Mountains and Atlanta, having been there several times. Deena seemed a little whiny to me and I think her character could have been a little more developed. This book is better than the first by this author (Rain Song) because it had a stronger ending.
review 2: I loved this book!!!! Deena is a young wo
... moreman who was recently in a car accident and had a broken engagement with her fiancé. She is healing from both those wounds when she moves from Atlanta to her Grandfather's cabin in North Carolina and has to teach cooking to a group of kids who have wounds of their own. This book takes you on the journey that all of them face together and you meet a handsome, patient social worker (Zack) (my dream job). less
